Highlights:
1. The OICR requires a full-time Scientist/Computational Biologist. The Scientist/Computational Biologist will be a member of the International Cancer Genome Consortium Data Coordinator Center (DCC) hosted at the OICR.
2. This project involves the management of large amounts of cancer re-sequencing and characterization data produced by multiple centers around the world. The Scientist/Computational Biologist will participate in designing the DCC’s data management systems, quality control tests and user interfaces.
3. Responsibilities for this position include:
• Make decisions on the biological correctness of the data representations;
• Assist in the creation of schemas and database designs for DCC;
• Design, organise and execute data management tasks to fit defined data release cycle;
• Assist in quality control of DCC data;
• Assist in design of user interfaces;
• Provide support for the users and collaborators of the Center.
• PhD. in biology/genomics/cancer research or related discipline preferred;
• Minimum one-year working experience in a data-intensive environment such as model organism database or a genome center preferred;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Previous management experience preferred
• Programming experience in a scripting language such as Perl required;
• Experience in relational database modeling and/or SQL required.
